Old Time Radio Shows

Talk about getting mana from heaven…
I just stumbled on this site, the OTR.Network, which has links to dozens and dozens of old time radio shows.
When I was growing up in the late 80’s/early 90’s I would stay up late and listen to Jack Benny, The Shadow, and others (from a distant AM radio station).
Great stuff!

USpolitical.com (a new blog)

One of my favorite all-encompassingly readers (and commenter!), Ryan, has started a new blog about US political issues.
From a recent article about terrorist attacks, Ryan writes:
I find it extremely naive to presume that military actions in “The Iraqi slaughterhouse, besieged Gaza, wasted Lebanon” somehow account for them. Americans are not slaughtering Iraqis, rather, Iraqis are […]

Islamism: A War to the Death

This week we have been reminded, yet again, that the Islamists mean what they say, and practice what they preach. Death to the West. Death to the Jews. Death to anyone who “blasphemes” Islam.
It is at times like this that I forget about the bloated federal budget and am grateful that folks […]

Boca Juniors Starts Season

And everyone is gunning for Argentina’s best soccer team.
The Argentine ‘06 Apertura championship is set to kick off, and clubs have one goal in mind: bringing an end to Boca Juniors’ dominance.
Boca is still probably the favorite, but the 22-time champs will face a particularly daunting challenge this time around, because most of its rivals […]

This guy shows a great card trick, along with instructions.

The cool thing about the trick is that there isn’t much slight of hand involved.

Team USA Basketball: It’s Back

Thank goodness.
Argentines couldn’t believe that I casually would predict obvious USA triumphs in the 2008 Olympics and the World Championships this summer in Japan.
The first game is August 19 in Sapporo. Go USA!

Senators Need Elevator Space

A humorous note from The New York Times:
In addition to lofty issues of war and peace, the Senate is grappling with another urgent matter: the senators-only elevators at the Capitol are being overrun by the unelected.
“I hesitate to say that it’s a big problem,” said Senator Frank R. Lautenberg of New Jersey, shaking his head […]

File Under: Dumb Criminals

Make sure to check the photo of the ID you’ve stolen before handing it over!
WESTLAKE, Ohio (AP) — A bar waitress checking to see if a customer was legally old enough to drink looked down to see a familiar photo.
It was her own.
The 22-year-old waitress, whose name was not released, called police last week and […]
