Australia to Censor Internet

This seems like a bad idea.
Here’s Rod Edwards’ take at TechFold:
At heart, I’m a libertarian: I am firm in my belief that the ills that accompany unfettered access to self-expression and communication are outweighed by the benefits – that the abdication of personal responsibility that seems endemic in our society is a call to community [...]

“You know, Tim, what I’ve said, and I’ve been pretty blunt about it, if you aren’t being honest in obtaining a job, can we trust you to be honest if you get the job?”

that little zinger comes at the end of the only “negative ad” mike huckabee can afford, an uninterrupted screed attacking mitt romney on meet the press this week. the only problem is, it actually indicts huck:

oops. also on meet the press, huck said this about the romney campaign’s television spot contrasting mitt and john mccain:
[romney] [...]

Reagan Nostalgia

While it’s easy to grow weary of the “Reagan, Reagan, Reagan…” mantra that has been repeated over and over and over again by the current crop of candidates, we should remember why Reagan is so revered.

ann coulter on mike huckabee

As far as I can tell, it’s mostly secular liberals swooning over Huckabee. Liberals adore Huckabee because he fits their image of what an evangelical should be: stupid and easily led.
[snip]
Employing the ACLU’s “any law I don’t like is unconstitutional” test, Huckabee said he supported the [Lawrence v. Texas (sodomy)] decision because a law [...]

Ken Jennings on Mormonism

From a recent piece in the Daily News:
This is a strange season to be a Mormon. During my lifetime, I thought the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had effectively mainstreamed itself. Being a Mormon was like being Canadian, or a vegetarian, or a unicyclist – it made you a bit of a conversation [...]
