well, various sources are reporting that the raw numbers are anywhere from $2 billion to $3 billion, just for christmas presents for pets, and that the whole year’s total comes to almost $40 billion spent on pets in america. and our GDP is estimated at like 12 trillion. so, if it’s just a simple percentage calculation (i’m not sure if there’s some complicated formula or if i’m even drawing from the right data) that’s like 1/3 of 1 percent.

i don’t know how this compares around the world, but i wouldn’t be surprised if we were near the top of the list of countries for “portion of GDP spent on domestic animals.”

So the fact that St. Nick is now Santa Claws...well the rich people here have nothing else (besides their pets and expensive cars) to spend their mega bucks on...so why not?
