iraqi prisoner abuse

cox and forkum take it on:

my opinion, in short, is that lynndie england and those who took the photos are idiots. stupid as dirt.

but those who cry foul in the arab world are not getting any sympathy from me. throughout the entire iraq war, coalition forces have faced one dishonest tactic after another from their opposition. whether it be kidnapping or mutilating unarmed civilians, pretending to surrender and then blowing themselves up, or firing on troops from holy sites....

as the US promises to stop using their questionable tactics immediately, it would do arabs well to cut us a little slack. i mean, at least we've promised to stop! that's more than one can say about al-qaeda and their methods.

and why are liberals upset about the humiliation to which the prisoners were subjected at abu-ghraib? much of it seems to be exactly what they're advocating in their public policy:

*homosexuality
*masturbation
*voyeurism

and if you count the alleged beatings as sadism and/or masochism, i don't see much difference between abu-ghraib and san francisco.

Your comparison of Abu-Ghraib and San Francisco is uncanny. If you consider the photos as porn, it's almost a perfect match.

You hit the nail on the head. It seems the media is wanting to malign the whole military by saying the abuse is "systemic". Excuse me, these kids were in a Hollywood produced American culture longer than under the military's wing. If this behavior is systemic, it is an indictment of culture, not the armed forces. I damn well wish we could make Hollywood and the media 'accountable' for the extreme damage they have and are continuing to inflict on culture and military.
