john kerry: flopper and deceiver

i left the following remarks on blogs for bush at this post, calling attention to kerry and edwards' 60 minutes interview.

many of kerry's flip-flops (and outright lies) on campaign issues have been exposed for a while, but i heard about a new one today as michael medved interviewed senator rick santorum on AM radio.

i actually voted FOR the 87 billion before i voted AGAINST it

santorum noted that kerry voted against the defense of marriage act a few years ago (which, remember, was passed to prevent states from being forced to honor gay marriages legalized elsewhere--in other words, it gave individual states the right to decide the issue of gay marriage). today, however, john kerry claims that the issue of gay marriage should be decided by each state individually. this, in direct contrast to his stance when he voted on the defense of marriage act.

incidentally, kerry claims he is personally opposed to gay marriage, but notice he has resorted to taking two DIRECTLY CONTRADICTORY POSITIONS with the sole purpose of supporting it.

if states' rights will limit the spread of gay marriage (as in the DOMA), then john kerry is against them! but if one state can exercise it's rights (like massachusetts) and legalize gay marriage, john kerry is for them!

not only is john kerry a flip-flopper, but--more alarmingly--he is deceiving the uninformed portion of the american electorate by claiming to espouse a belief that he has no intention of protecting--namely the traditional definition of marriage in our country.

here's an interesting afterthought: the very issue edwards cites in defense of kerry (the vietnam war) is perhaps kerry's most high-profile flop-flip of all.

edwards: "...flip-flopper? You gotta be kidding me. I mean, a guy who put his life on the line for the men who served with him in Vietnam every day? Ask them what he's made of. Ask them what kind of backbone and courage he has." [link]

oh, you mean he served with his fellow soldiers before he came home and called them war criminals?! how decisive!

this ticket is like a walking "saturday night live" skit. there is no way these jokers win the white house.
