BBC - Why We Fight

I haven’t even finished it, but I can already tell that it’s definitely worth watching.

I should say, to avoid any confusion, that I certainly don’t agree with the many (most?) of the views in the video. But it is a worthwhile watch, nonetheless.

UPDATE: Ok, after having watched it I can safely say that I definitely don’t buy many of the arguments that some of the folks push in the video. There is one guy from a “peace institute” or think tank or something that seems to be against capitalism and corporations as much as he is against war. Kind of bogus if you ask me. Another woman, a retired colonel, gets more extreme as the documentary goes on (this appears to be a general theme in the documentary). Nonetheless, the documentary is exceptionally well put together and is much more level headed than your standard Michael Moore “Bush lied. People died.” boilerplate nonsense. In summary, I suppose that I am much more open to the idea the “military industrial complex” tries to push the US into any conflict generally, than I am to the simplistic conspiracy theory that the Iraq war specifically was about oil or some such narrow interest.

UPDATE 2: Here’s an interview with the director of Why We Fight as well as the BBC site about Why We Fight.

really enjoyed this. it’s amazing to look back and see this nation was fooled. the best part is when McCain is going off about Cheney and then gets a call from him in the middle of the interview. watch this, it’s worth the time.

the WAR in Iraq has nothing to do with oil just home land security. that is the problum with you liberals you all are just thinking about what YOU THINK the president is doing but you have to start thinking about what he is doing. if you liberals have any brain’s at all then you whould support Bush and our troops.
