CNN: Proudly Spreading Islamist Propaganda

You just can’t make this crap up.
Here is a screen shot of the CNN web site right now at 10:40am (click to see full version).

As you can see, there is a “breaking” news story:

The “CNN Exclusive” is this:
Almost 2,800 Americans have been killed so far in Iraq and one of the most dangerous insurgent opponents [...]

Grand Talipoobah

Scott Adams over at Dilbert Blog has a serious/humorous solution for what he calls the “problem of dumb terrorists”.
Have you noticed that there are two basic types of terrorists? There are the smart, educated ones with engineering and medical degrees, for example. And then there are the Taliban who are essentially monkeys with guns. I [...]

Huffington Post: Bush at fault for “tense atmosphere”

Ignore the madman from Tehran or his friendly cohort Hugo Chavez. It is George Bush who is at fault for the “increasingly tense atmosphere” because he refused to meet with Little Hitler at the UN.
The Iranian President accused the US of using terrorism as a “pretext for the continued presence of foreign forces in [...]

ahmadinejad thinks we’re stupid

in his interview with time, the iranian president said all conflicts (but specifically the west’s concern that he is developing nuclear weapons) can be resolved peacefully:

TIME: You recently invited President Bush to a televised debate. If he were sitting where I am sitting, what would you say, man to man?
Ahmadinejad: The issues which are of [...]

Pope is ignorant. Islam is not violent.

Some quotes…
From Bangladesh:
Many an educated and half educated men like him deliberately do this through sheer ignorance to undermine the image of Islam and the Prophet.
From Egypt:
Sunni Islam’s leading religious authority said Saturday that Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks implicitly linking violence and the Muslim faith betrayed “ignorance of Islam”.
The head of Cairo’s Al-Azhar university, Sheikh [...]

In West Bank attacks on four churches, Palestinians used guns, firebombs and lighter fluid, leaving church doors charred and walls scorched by flames and pocked with bullet holes. Nobody was reported injured. Two Catholic churches, an Anglican one and a Greek Orthodox one were hit. A Greek Orthodox church was also attacked in Gaza City.
A [...]

love resonates after september 11th

below is an excerpt from peggy noonan’s most recent column. she discusses the calls from people in and around the twin towers and on doomed flight 93 to their families:

Life was reduced to its essentials. Time was short. People said what counted, what mattered. It has been noted that there is no record of [...]

Brian Ross, ABC, and a half-ton of fertilizer

Is there no real investigative reporting to do?
Brian Ross from ABC News, in an exclusive undercover investigation, has successfully purchased fertilizer and stored it a few miles from the U.S. Capitol.
Count me among the underwhelmed.
A few of my favorite comments from ABC’s blog:
Wake up call? To purchase fertilizer? Go back to reporting on drunk celebs [...]

The Beslan School Tragedy

Via Global Voices and snowsquare.com, I’m reminded of the Beslan School tragedy/massacre/attack that occured September 1-3, 2004.
Honestly, I had forgotten about it and didn’t remember we were approaching its anniversary.
By the Saturday the full horror of what had taken place at the school became clear.
Emergency workers, sifting through the debris of the burnt out gymnasium, [...]
