Congress: Not Above the Law
Thankfully a federal judge has restored some sanity to the Rep. William Jefferson case. You know, the Louisana Democrat who stores stacks of Benjamins in his freezer.
A federal judge on Monday upheld the FBI’s unprecedented raid of a congressional office, saying that barring searches of lawmakers’ offices would turn Capitol Hill into “a taxpayer-subsidized sanctuary for crime.”
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan rejected requests from lawmakers and Rep. William Jefferson to return material seized by the FBI in a May 20-21 search of Jefferson’s office.
Hallelujah.
I guess only time will tell if we get an encore of a Hastert/Pelosi statement pleading for special congressional privileges.

William Jefferson is a disgrace to New Orleans. This recent occurence has left him weaker than ever, and it is time for some new leadership from New Orleans. His Republican challenger, Joe Lavigne, has a plan to help revitalize New Orleans. I encourage people to check it out at his website.
