fauxtography in cuba?
there are questions about the paper fidel castro is holding up in this picture:

the picture is meant to prove castro is still alive — you know, like a hostage. but see an analysis here. the blogger has a picture of what the real front page looks like, and some other things that are out of the ordinary. this fauxtography was also highlighted in opinion journal’s blurb, what does a photo prove?

Look, every Cuban in Cuba knows that this photographed version of Granma was a proof - not the real thing. Fidel gets the the earliest version of the paper before it is printed. Do these conspiracy bloggers think the Cuban regime is so stupid that it would try to pass off a fake Granma cover?
for one thing, castro controls the paper. but the biggest problem is: the only item on the proof is his birthday announcement. no current news. no notice of any event that would actually serve to prove the date. they have known he was approaching 80 for a long time. they could have created the proof a long time ago, and probably did. without any other news on the page, this picture is about as much evidence of him living to his 80th birthday as a picture of me next to a birthday cake with 80 candles on it.
The URL of the paper is http://www.granma.cu
There is no reason for Guerrillasaurus Rex to fake this shot.
