At the very least, he wasn't saying one thing in the ads, and then something different to conservative donors in private. His pitch was his indepedence and willingness to get stuff done. Charismatic? At the very least, he wasn’t saying one thing in the ads, and then something different to conservative donors in private. His pitch was his indepedence and willingness to get stuff done.

Independence was invented for the ads just like his moderation and his muddled answers on the issues. He is something of a far right fanatic in his actions. Look at the dirty tricks he pulled on election day. A real insult to African American voters. He does have charisma and therefore all is forgiven. Steele is not independent.
