Microsoft Loses to Guatemalan Programmer
Carlos Armando Amado, a Guatemalan programmer, successfully sued Microsoft over an intellectual property dispute. Apparently Amado had patented a software technology related to Excel and Access, which Microsoft then decided to use as their own. Oops!
The behemoth from Redmond owes Amado $8.9 million as a result.
And to avoid our own IP dispute, in case you didn’t know: “Microsoft is a registered trademark of Microsoft Corporation“.
