newsflash: icecats are newsworthy

there was no room today in the print version of our school newspaper for an article about the icecats’ first home game of the hockey season. there WAS room, however, for a scintillating expose on national cookie month. i’m not kidding.
so i thought i’d get the word out. games tonight and tomorrow against the UNM lobos.
for information, check out byuhockey.com. the season schedule is here. team roster is here. notice how young the team is. that’s my only concern. we’ve got talented players and a dedicated coaching staff.
last season we beat new mexico twice, including a 5-4 overtime thriller, and a 10-1 drubbing the next night. this year we hope to sweep the series again.
go icecats.

good luck!
Travis, did you expect more from a news organization that promised to redesign their pirated web site six months ago?
The Daily Universe is a group of Journalism majors, they are not reporters, writers, or photographers, they are students just like us trying to get an A (and usually failing to do so).
I just looked at the schedule…
1) No games against the Utah?
2) I see that the playoffs are in my home state…I told you hockey was big in Maryland…
Hi!
No games against University of Utah because they no longer have a program. There are two reasons for this: (1) they were poorly managed and repeatedly did stupid things that got them into trouble with the university, and (2) we kicked their butts last season so bad the whole team collapsed into a formless heap — heck, their best players transferred to our school to play for us!!!
As for coverage by the Daily Universe, we’ve got a reporter assigned to us (Bret Fitzgerald) and he’s very positive about the team. Travis is right, there was no article on the team on Friday (mostly because there was so much ink devoted to explaining the embarrassing performance of the football team Thursday night against CSU). There was, however, a good article on the team in Wednesday’s paper.

The game last night was a nice win (9-4), but the ‘Cats still need to work on not making serious mental errors at key points in a game. Jimmy Burkart did manage to get another hattrick, though. That makes two in a row against UNM!!!
Ciao!

Let’s start throwing our hats onto the ice like we’re supposed to!!
If only Steve Cleveland would post cool comments about the Utah basketball program here…
i don’t think he would. he is a basketball player, so he may not be familiar with reading or writing.
