Yes, it is about time Northworst Airlines went down the tubes. I recently tried to get a refund for a flight they cancelled. Catch this, they want $150 of my money for a flight they canceled. Don't get me going on this one. I felt sorry for the folks at the counters. They were lied to as well. Weather was not the problem. MSP was not the problem. The issue was that NWA made a business decision to cancel the flight. Although not the best marketing tool, it seems to me that a little truth would gop a long way. Delta, are y ou listening?

Any one who has has ever had to endure, and I mean endure this airline must feel like words can't express just how much an airline can SUCK! I have been a business flyer for decades, dating back to the days when all airlines were reasonably ok. In fairness to NWA, all the US carriers suck compared to the old days, but NWA has taken it to a whole new level! But our revenge is here fellow sufferers. Southwest, Airtran, and Sun Country all fly out of "Fortress Minneapolis" now. In the past, because NWA leased all the gates by buying some politicians, no one could compete. Anyone who did would get squashed like a bug by NWA matching their fares and having far more flights. Now with the Humphrey terminal, you don't have to even lay eyes on the bastards at Northwest. They will now die a slow death. It took the airport managers years to convince Southwest to come there, and it only happened this year. The public who has been raped for decades in Mpls will flock to them, wait and see. Good Riddance, Northworst!

How Northwest Airlines is screwing their customers
August 17, 2009

I recently had the most awful experience I have ever had with an airline. This situation is so ridiculous I would almost find it humorous if it hadn’t happened been me they screwed. Take my advice and never fly with Northwest Airlines!

I booked a multiple destination flight from Columbus to San Antonio, San Antonio to Dallas, and then Dallas back to Columbus through Orbitz. Northwest Airlines issued my ticket. Three days before my flight from San Antonio to Dallas, I decided instead to drive to Dallas early and just catch my flight back to Columbus. I called Orbitz to see if I could get some money back for driving instead of flying one leg of the trip and was told I had to cancel that flight. So I agreed and after the flight was cancelled, I was then told that my flight from Dallas to Columbus had been cancelled as well.

Evidently Northwest loves to collect extra fees for changing tickets. If you purchase a ticket that goes to multiple destinations, you not only can’t cancel any portion of the trip, you have to literally show up for every leg of trip or your entire trip is cancelled! Not only was I not allowed to cancel my flight from San Antonio to Dallas, they told me that if I didn’t show up for my flight in San Antonio, my flight to Columbus would be cancelled as well. How much would it cost me to drive one leg of the trip instead of flying….a minimum of $200, possibly more!

I can’t believe the desperation of Northwest Airlines to try and make an extra buck by hiding fees in their Terms of Agreement! When I called their customer service, they were extremely rude and obnoxious. I was shocked! I would never have believed I would receive this kind of treatment from any business much less a big airline. Now I’m out hundreds of dollars by missing my flight from San Antonio and have to pay a minimum of $200 if I want to re-book my flight from Dallas to Columbus.

People should be aware that Northwest might be cheap to fly, but they are hiding as many fees as they can in the small print of those online agreements you agree to when you click accept. I will never fly Northwest Airlines again and I hope many people will read this and avert disaster. Just pay a little extra and fly Southwest which is an honest company.
The only consolation I have had throughout this awful experience is the knowledge that companies like Northwest, who are dishonest and corrupt, will always go out of business when they resort to this kind of dishonest behavior.

In disgust,
Jonathan Munson

I am a blind NWA reservations agent. I take a county run paratransit van to and rom work which is a shared ried and scheduled by the county to get me to work on time. My managers won't work with me when this service is late due traffic, other urgent medical rides and other problems. They wouldn't even excuse a a day I took off Jan 27,2009 because it was snowy and ice on the ground and I feared for my safety. I will always do my best for my caller but it gets really hard when the company treats you like sh*t.

[editor note: this is not "doug" from all-encompassingly]

Dear former Northwest Visa card folks.

If you, like me, have been forced to get the "great" Delta American Express card, please join me in telling Delta and Northwest that this care really sucks.

Since I started trying to use it and get all the promised miles, I have been refused by 7 merchants. What crap.
Let's all tell Delta that we want a Delta Visa card.
Thanks,
Doug

Northworst airline does suck.
I have a long and complicated story about northworst.
My flying with them has ben atotal night mare.
To sum it up, they mutilated my lugage beyond recognition to my destination after it got ther on my last day (2 weeks later). Then they lost it on the way back and they dont know where it is. Any way months have gone by and no compensation. When i cal northworst and give them my info they put me on permanent hold. Do not fly the worst airline ever.

Rob your are so right about how racist nwa workers are, 2 times in the last year i have seen this. Last time i noticed it i told the guy at LAX about what i thought about how he treated people of color, the guy went nuts. 2 other people in line told him the same but he just shouted back at me. i sat next to the guy who he was racist to and he said that stuff happens to him all the time. for the record i didnt catch his name but he was the older , gray haired guy that takes tickets for the lax red eye flights. he was a jerk, just like many other nwa workers, they just dont care.

My first ever journey with NWA came out to be a bitter experience. Let
me just narrate the story in short.
I started from Seoul to Detroit by NWA flight on 18th of Feb 2008. the
ticket was booked few weeks in advance with all iterinary and meal
preferences confirmed. After flight took off Incheon airport, the flight
attendant came with polite smile and told me your meal is confirmed. And
she wished me a good flight. But to my wonder when actual food came with
VGML label and my name on tray, what i found inside the tray there was
full bowl of Chicken which was later confirmed by same attendant. though
the lable was confirming food to be VGML. Attendant said she doesn;t
have any replacement for this, however she tried to help me with food
from business class which again was not vegetarian. My journey was 15
hours long and such careless treatment and that too my first ever
journey with NWA, i got shocked. To put more salt on my wound she
offered me vouchers of 10$ , so that I can go and eat after 15 hours of
flight, till then I was expected to remain starved.

With this experience I have decided never to travel by NWA again in my
life.(i Normally avoid North America based airlines in general-as many
of them are bankrupt or on the verge of bankruptcy)
I often use European , gulf or other wonderful Asian airlines like
SIA, cathay,Asiana.
It made me feel that these north American based airlines are just
pathetic as I heard in terms of customer service and poor administration
. Even when I demanded feedback form onboard she advised me to go and
check website to login my comments on nwa.com

Vegetarians please be-aware that you are not in good hands if you ever
want to travel by NWA for long haul flights. Other observations I made
in terms of dirty restrooms, aged attendants ,dirty covers on sheet,
limited food, limited drinks(that too if you pay separate for drinks),
broken headphones. of course the leased smiles on the faces were bit of
air in desert.

I wish this type of airline do wonderful business by ripping off their
customers who has little or no respect for vegetarians.

Would you like to travel by NWA after reading my terrible experience.
Good bye NWA, you don;t get my business, I would take normal Asian or
European airlines who treat me as normal passenger with respect. I
travel 5 times across the globe for which NWA don;t get any share out of
my budget.

Finally after all the troubles and miserable journey-after 2 weeks I got
a reply from their customer service who said this concern has been
forwarded to director food service. In that email agent promised me to
send vouchers worth one hundred dollar for future travel ( but for me no
use, since I would never venture into NWA again)

NWA is a big joke specially when you fly over different continents.
Please steer clear from it, else be prepared tol loose your peace of
mind plus you will starve. probably you might get some vouchers as
compensation of your starvation and sugar coated lip service from their
customer service agents.

I feel NWA and similar airlines cannot be competent and hence their
business sucks. It makes them one of worst airline to fly .

Vegetarians just be alert that they would call your meal preferences as
very special dietary need, as you don't eat dead animals ( however you
may be vegetarian from your birth which is nothing special, as there are
over 500million vegetarians are on this planet). This airline is hardly
educated enough to even respect vegetarian customers because they don't
need their business, so they practically don't deserve our business.
Just avoid NWA by all means if you do not want to get pissed off. For
same price you can fly much better airline with lot more respect and
dignity.
