Pastor Candidate Mike Huckabee
This is an ad I would love to see from a religious leader, not a guy running for president.
If you dig televangelists then Huckabee is a godsend…literally.
But if you aren’t a fan of most preaching on TV, then Huckabee’s shtick is downright repulsive.
Obviously, I fall in the latter category, as does the vast majority of America. Huckacide indeed.

“This is an ad I would love to see from a religious leader, not a guy running for president.”
I agree.
The hypocrisy is too much. This is the worst POLITICAL ad I’ve ever seen. Hoping not to sound blasphemous, but Mike Huckabee is running for President and using Jesus as his mascot.
hidden messages (huckabee’s campaign seems to be full of these) in this ad:
1. i’m out of donations, and there’s no way i can afford to run ads defending my clintonesque political philosophy. please stop running ads talking about my record!
2. as the front runner in iowa, i’m very happy to have a moratorium on anyone rising in the polls at this point. please stop running ads talking about my embarassing record!
3. We have recently taken delivery on our Gulfstream G4SP plane, which we call Dove One. I have enclosed a beautiful photo-filled brochure to explain more about this incredible ministry tool that will increase the scope of our abilities to preach the Gospel around the globe. Now we must pay the remainder of the down payment, and I am asking the Lord Jesus to speak to 6,000 of my precious partners to sow a seed of $1,000 in the next ninety days. And I am praying, even as I write this letter, that you will be one of them!
I just laughed out loud. The first time I watched it, I really felt the appeal that he is going for.
The second time, I had just read the National Review article Travis has posted about.
Oh my goodness, it is so funny when he says, “Are you worn out by all the television commercials you’ve been seeing? Mostly about politics.” Oh my. It is so funny to be thinking in the back of your mind how he is subtly begging the viewer to dismiss all thoughts political from their minds, particularly relating to his record, and simply blissfully celebrate the holidays and go vote for him on January 3rd.
In all seriousness, when is the last time a political candidate for the presidency ran a television commercial wishing people happy holidays?
the primary season in iowa is a basketball game that starts late on december 24th. mike huckabee is ahead (though his lead is slipping) when the clock strikes midnight. mike stands up and announces, magnanimously, that no more scoring should take place because it is a special day. mike has someone behind him hold up a cross to make the subtle point that he is the christian candidate (when asked about this later, huckabee will claim it was just a “timeout” sign, that’s all!) and points out, “aren’t you tired of all the scoring that’s going on? i know i am. let’s stop the scoring now, while i’m ahead.”
Too bad the media never mentions Mike Huckabee verbally attacked two Arkansas state representatives who proposed a bill to require proof of citizenship to receive state benefits. Huckabee called them racist and unchristian! Also no mention of him negoiating with President Fox of Mexico to set up a Mexican Consulate in Little Rock Arkansas at NO expense to Mexico.
And he is tough on illegal immigration?….what a joke! Run a search in worldnetdaily.com to read the articles about the Mexican Consulate.
