pennsylvania traffic tie-up: katrina all over again

i dashed off this post last february, but never published it — travis
HAMBURG, Pa., Feb. 16 — Gov. Edward G. Rendell on Friday ordered a review of the state’s “unacceptable†response to an ice and snow storm that left thousands of people stranded, some for more than a day, on long sections of three major Interstate highways in Central Pennsylvania.
State Police and Department of Transportation officials blamed the storm that started on Wednesday; heavy traffic; accidents; and hilly, rural conditions for the mess, which reached its zenith on Thursday with a 50-mile traffic jam on Interstate 78. [source: new york times]
sure, the weather was bad. sure, it was tough to get in. bla bla bla. but how in the world could it take the government a full day to de-jam the traffic? you want to know the real reason? certain americans are expendable to the current administration.
to sum it all up, how did the pennsylvania traffic tie-up happen? it should be obvious: george bush hates truckers.
