There are thousands of species that have become extinct now and long before man appeared on planet earth. (the dinosaurs for example). There is no evidence that humans are causing extinction of the polar bear nor any other species today. And even if humans were the cause, are we not part of "nature" and could be a natural cause of extinction of other species? How is it any different than the near extinction of the American eagle which occurred primarily BEFORE industrialization of the U.S.

Likewise there are constantly newly created species despite man's existence on the planet.

Don't fall for the lies in "Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore. His story is so full of misinterpretations of statistics and he is so misinformed that the movie isn't worth the film it's printed on.

The earth has experienced numerous hot and cold spells (ice ages). Don't forget that about 10,000 years ago the polar ice cap extended as far south as all of the northern states of the U.S.

Also, Mars's ices caps are also showing signs of melting which would indicate that the primary cause could be our Sun and its change in intensity.

If polar bears are becoming extinct, it may be that that is the way God wanted it to be and not because I don't drive a Prius!!!

u r so right 2 mention the polar bears. some r dieing. but the 1s that r doing aerobics survive, which is kind of like humans: all the 1s that eat fast food 2 much die, but the healthy 1s live longer. what is unfair about that?

two thumbs up, doug. first, because you gave us polar bear calisthenics. second, because of this line:

<blockquote>

Al Gore is using more electricity than an industrial crack house

</blockquote>

instant classic.
