I am an NHL fan, and when my wife and I caved in last April — after 9 months without cable — we got the channel package that included Versus. Versus is virtually the only network that carries NHL regular season and playoff games in the United States. NBC shows like a half dozen or [...]
The AP (5/14, Pickler) reports, “A lawsuit was filed in federal court Wednesday on behalf of more than 15,000 students who paid thousands to attend President Barack Obama’s inauguration but reportedly were left out in the cold.” The complaint “filed in Washington says Vienna, Va.-based Envision EMI promised middle, high school and college students across [...]
@KeithOlbermann’s Epic Fail
The incompetence that led to Keith Olbermann naming Twitter the “Worst Person in the World” is staggering. He smeared the popular service, Fox News, and a fellow liberal Democrat enemy of Fox News, all because he got an email he didn’t understand, about a technology he didn’t understand, and neither he nor his staff did [...]
Beckham Lied, Kids’ Dreams Died
I loved watching this video. It is about 10 minutes long and filled with question after question that exposes goldenballs’ faulty logic, disingenuousness, and lack of commitment to keep his word.
In case the video becomes unavailable, here is a transcript:
Hannah Storm: David, you hurt your right ankle and how is it? Will you be [...]
Never use Google Checkout
It looks like Google will get trigger happy and just shut down your entire account (Gmail, Picasa, Google Docs, etc) if there is an unauthorized charge.
Yup, no email, no photos, etc, if someone uses your Google Checkout fraudulently.
I have a Google Checkout account. I am deleting my info with Google posthaste.
Yikes.
Absolut-ly Retarded
I can say, with complete certainty, that I will never drink Absolut Vodka ever again.
avoid USsearch.com if you actually want to find people
i tried to use the services of US search this summer on behalf of a relative searching for a wayward business partner. after receiving an order confirmation email from US search, the people-finding company proceeded to fail to display any competence in the area of finding things, specifically any information i emailed them. [...]
Pretty Picture of the Day
May all Linux/OSS/FOSS fans enjoy this graphic as much as I do.
Hat tip: Alejandro.

two years ago, i tried to order a new dell computer. dell sent me a $1200 piece of junk and refused to fix it. thank goodness i bought the laptop with a credit card, and i was able to ask my credit card company to intervene. i found a good form letter [...]

Cell Phones Suck in Argentina, Too
This morning I came across a ranking of official complaints to Consumer Protection in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It shows the percentage of complaints by industry.
As you’ll notice, cell phone companies have more than twice as many complaints as home appliances (which is #3 after the catch-all “other”).
look at this jacket (go ahead, laugh). it is ridiculous-looking. who in their right mind is going to want to wear it?
the motorola audex jacket is an “i love the 2000s” instant hit. i mean, you could make a VH1 “i love 2006″ right now, and this jacket could be [...]
and so the lie spreads
now someone has decided your pet should believe in santa claus.
Santa Claws® In-Store Photo Event. Visit a PetSmart store near you for pet photos with Santa Claws.
when will enough be enough for people? it started out innocently, i suppose:
old lie
kid: “where did these presents come from mom and dad?”
parent: [...]
Verizon Employees: Dumber Than Dumb
This is unreal. Verizon has some the dimmest bulbs in America working at their call centers.
Background: this poor cell phone customer tries to explain the difference between .002 cents and .002 dollars.
Kudos if you can make it through all 22 minutes…it’s tough, but worth a few laughs.
The supervisor who is on for most of [...]
ESPN’s obsessions: cross-promotion and terrell owens
first, terrell owens. ESPN has become the channel for “all TO, all the time.” thank goodness i tivo sportscenter so i can fast-forward through most of it. their coverage is football-heavy as it is–so much time is devoted to the odd-shaped ball that they have time to give helpful hints to viewers, [...]
