The end times are upon us.

BCS is a joke; Big-10, a laughingstock.

As Bill Maher would say:
New Rule: A four year ban on any Big-10 team, The Ohio State University in particular, from appearing in the “championship” game.

Well, this is depressing…

The MLS, the soccer league here in the U.S., is the 67th strongest league in the world according to new rankings by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
Yeah, that’s right, 67th.
That is behind such powerhouse leagues as Zimbabwe, Macedonia, Lebanon, Tunisia and Iran.
Here are the top ten:
1. England
2. Spain
3. Italy
4. Brazil
5. Argentina
6. Germany
7. France
8. Mexico
9. Colombia
10. Portugal

two names i enjoy: eathyn manumaleuna and kai forbath

once more, recall fletch:

Mr. Stanwyk’s parents Marvin and Velma of Provo, were unable to attend the wedding. Those are three names I enjoy; Marvin, Velma, and Provo.”

eathyn manumaleuna blocked kai forbath’s 28-yard field goal try as time expired to give BYU a 17-16 win over UCLA in the las vegas bowl. forbath had previously [...]

roger clemens’ attorney lacks understanding of grammar, law

“Roger Clemens adamantly, vehemently, and whatever other adjectives can be used, denies that he has ever used steroids or … improper substances,” Clemens’ attorney, Rusty Hardin, said Thursday.”

[CNN video]
“adamantly” and “vehemently” are, of course, not adjectives but adverbs as most 5th graders know. [check your understanding of adverbs with the google]
roger clemens’ attorney also makes [...]

New strategy to protect the net.

Hilarious strategy for a free 12th man on the field:
Bring on the water guy (and you gotta love the fact he won’t touch the ball with his hands!).

I feel deceived.

At the end of last year’s college football season I posted Notre Dame: Were they ever that good? wondering out loud about Notre Dame and lamenting the sad state of football at South Bend.
N. Chung, a frequent commenter on the blog, said the following:
I just finished Lou Holtz’s bio, and he even complained that media [...]

my thoughts on bill belichick

his cheating is 1000 times worse than barry bonds‘ because, unlike bonds’ teams, belichick’s teams have won championships. an astonishing 3 in the last 5 years or something like that. if the league determines they cheated in any of those seasons, they should be stripped of their titles and those involved should be [...]

Barry Bonds: Cheating?

We all know that Bonds used steroids arthritic rubbing balm and flaxseed oil.
Now, take a look at this fascinating article exploring the giant protective gear that Bonds uses.
For years, sportswriters remarked that his massive “protective” gear – unequaled in all of baseball — permits Bonds to lean over the plate without fear of [...]

“particle physics will never work in the US scientific community” LOL

ted miller has written a great article putting MLS doubters in their place. the money quote is about halfway down, where he engages in a fun little hypothetical involving frontline.

Whether Beckham makes his Major League Soccer debut Sunday in Toronto or not, you can count on many so-called pundits trashing the [...]

falcons’ michael vick brutally killed puppies

as an animal lover, i cannot believe anyone could do this to a dog:

In or about April of 2007, Peace, Phillips and [atlanta falcons star quarterback, michael] Vick executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in ‘testing’ sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one [...]
