The Beslan School Tragedy
Via Global Voices and snowsquare.com, I’m reminded of the Beslan School tragedy/massacre/attack that occured September 1-3, 2004.
Honestly, I had forgotten about it and didn’t remember we were approaching its anniversary.
By the Saturday the full horror of what had taken place at the school became clear.
Emergency workers, sifting through the debris of the burnt out gymnasium, uncovered the remains of some of the hundreds of children and adults killed.
The siege left 331 people dead, including 186 children. More than 700 people were injured.
Many of the bodies were charred beyond recognition and some parents had to wait for DNA tests to confirm the fate of their children.
It’s important to remember that the U.S. isn’t alone in being a terrorist target.

and let’s not forget that we were never supposed to find out the religious persuasion of the perpetrators of the despicable attack.
A sad event altogether.
I have to admire the Russian style of no negotiation. They just go in and kill all the terrorists. As far as I’ve read, it happened in that Theater, then at the school.
Message to terrorists: If you take hostages, you will get nothing but your own death.
