Want to make a dirty bomb?
You’ll just need some free time and a postal box.
Congressional investigators set up a bogus company with only a postal box and within a month obtained a license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that allowed them to buy enough radioactive material for a small “dirty bomb.”
This is the kind of story that makes me very wary of arguments that the entire Patriot Act is “indispensable” in the war on terror.
We don’t need tons of additional laws to fight terrorism, just a moderately competent bureaucracy. Heh.
