What’s Wrong With Politics
When a serious candidate pulls out like this something is wrong with the process.
Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack withdrew as a candidate for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination today, saying he could not raise enough money to compete with his nationally known rivals.
“This process has become to a great extent about money, a lot of money,” Vilsack said during a late morning news conference at his campaign headquarters in Des Moines.
I doubt I would have voted for Tom Vilsack in the general election, but he was a serious candidate, with serious experience (in other words, he wasn’t a Dennis Kucinich proposing outer space mind control legislation).
What’s wrong with politics? The presidential race is a horse race for money as much as it is for votes. Is public financing the answer? I dunno. That would bring a whole set of problems, I think.

Dr. Kearl said all politicians were idiots. Maybe personnel is the issue.
I personally think it is ridiculous to pull out this soon.
While I’m cheering for Romney on the Republican side, I can see 1 or 2 republican candidates getting plenty of press in the next year side by side with the “Big 3″ - McCain, Giuliani and Romney.
Same thing with Hillary, Obama and Edwards.
