dan inquires:
I wonder if you could show me an example of “terrorists†rejoicing in this election
likewise, daniel, i wonder how you haven’t noticed that terrorists have taken sides in this and past elections. a few examples:
“Of course Americans should vote Democrat,” Jihad Jaara, a senior member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group and the infamous leader of the 2002 siege of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, told WND.
terrorists want democrats to win. they don’t care that i and other conservatives belong to a church that has donated millions to islamic relief worldwide. they don’t care that all americans, including republicans, donated hundreds of millions of dollars to muslim nations ravaged by tsunamis two years ago. they don’t care whether we call them the “religion of peace” or not. they don’t want our sympathy or admiration. they want us converted or dead. democrats in power, actively effectuating democrat policies, present the quickest way for muslims to achieve this goal.
the sad thing is, when they come for you they won’t ask whether you were for the wars in afghanistan and iraq, whether you are for or against waterboarding, or whether you want to respect their right to privacy while they plot their attacks against us on the phone.
you’re a christian. you will have to convert to islam or face the consequences.

wow, you really did buy into Rove’s propaganda, didn’t you, travis. looks like there is still much work to do here in America.
I think Travis is just about right here. Contemptuously writing off the facts Travis has presented as propoganda is like putting your hands over your ears and yelling “I CAN”T HEAR YOU” at the top of your lungs. It will make you feel better, but it won’t change the fact that Islamic extremists know that their job (destroying Americans, and if you don’t believe that, find some and ask them) will be much easier if Democrats win elections.
Travis is mistaken here, but it’s not his fault. He listened to his president, who lied. This is what Bush said yesterday:
So, we’ve got a discrepancy here, don’t we. Mr. Bush said during the election that a vote for Democrats is a vote for terrorists. Travis, bless his gullible heart, believed Bush (after all Bush is ordained by God to be our leader), yet just yesterday, Bush compliments Democrats, promises to work with Democrats, and says Democrats care about the security of our country as much as he does. Huh, imagine that.
So is Mr. Bush wrong? When is he wrong? Before the election during campaign speeches, was Bush lying? Or was Bush lying yesterday?
Furthermore, if you are going to make the accusation that terrorists will have an easier time attacking America with Democrats in power, you’ve got to provide the evidence. Bush never did. Neither his team, neither conservative pundits. So, I challenge you now. Show me the evidence. No campaign talking points, mind you. As I’ve just shown, we cannot trust Bush’s words from the campaigns. Show me the evidence that with Democrats in power, terrorists will have an easier time attacking America.
Meanwhile, I can prove that terrorists have actually had an easier time attacking America with Republicans in power. But I’ll wait for your evidence first.
Dan, Would you rather Bush not cooperate with the new Democrats? Seems like you want a fight instead of progress. Why focus on things said during an election when both sides have their issues about negative campaigning? It takes class to put the election behind you and move forward. Can Bush do anything right in your mind, or are you blind to the fact that you may have the same problem you accuse Travis of having?
Briant,
Negative campaigning is one thing. Calling your political opponent a supporter of terrorism is another. As the President of the United States, your words carry far more weight. When you say something like that, people (like Travis) listen and say the same thing.
I’m glad to see Bush humbled, but it isn’t enough to right the wrongs he has made over the past six years. So many many bad things done.
For Bush to gain my respect, he needs to resign as president of the United States. That’s when I will see an honorable man. What he has done these past six years is not deserving of any respect.
Dan,
I think that BDS has clouded your critical reasoning.
1. The terrorists prefer Democrats in power.
2. The Democrats care about national security.
These are not mutually exclusive. Think about it.
I think you are taking a quote out of context.
Of course the Democrats are interested in keeping America safe, in their minds, just like Republicans are, in their minds. The President is probably paving the way for compromise, touching on how both sides want what is best. Safety, security, etc…
However, attacking Democrats during the campaign would be an attack on their methods to achieve American safety and security. He still doesn’t agree with their methods now, but he is talking about how the ideal and end goal is the same.
So essentially, in a Bush’s mind, thinking(and perhaps knowing :)) that a Democratic method is not going to work is the basis for saying that a vote for them is a vote for terrorists.
Doug, Doug, Doug,
But they are not linked and never have been. The reality is that Bush’s actions have proven terrorists correct when they speak about an America that is at war with Islam. Bin Laden said the West was at war with Islam. Now Bush has invaded two Islamic nations, threatened two others, and supported Israel in attacking a fifth. It seems terrorists love Bush, because he is proving them right. They gain more credibility in the eyes of other Muslims by the very fact that we attack them.
Over on Millenial Star (before it went down), Tossman said that the best way to defeat Islamic terrorism is for Islam to do it. I then asked him just how would Western intervention actually help, if the best method for the removal of extremists from within Islam can only come from within Islam. Unfortunately, Millenial Star went down before he could reply.
Democrats care about defending our nation, and have been quite consistent throughout history in defending this nation. Remember, the worst terrorist attacks against the United States happened under two Republican leaders.
Now, no one here seems to take me up on the challenge. I challenge you to show examples of ways that Democratic control of America will lead to more attacks against America. Show me the money, dude!
Ryan,
Well then let me just say that I am glad most Americans do not agree with Bush.
Dan,
(or should it be, “Dan, Dan, Dan…”)
I know. George Bush and Bill Clinton. Oh, wait…
Two words:
Monica LewinskyBill Clinton. We were attacked repeatedly during the 1990’s, on Clinton’s watch, and then once again only months after he left office. Perhaps you haven’t read the newspapers since 9/11, but do you know how many attacks the U.S. has suffered since then?
Zero. Zilch. None. Nada.
It is well documented that the terrorists saw Clinton’s weakness in fighting terrorism and loved his law enforcement approach to the problem. Go use Google for a few minutes and stop hitting yourself with the stupid stick.
[...] see if you agree with him. dan blogs: [...]
um….Doug,
how many terrorist attacks occurred in the United States under Clinton’s watch? One. Eight people died. The 1993 World Trade Center bombings. Did the Clinton Administration catch the bad guys in that attack. Yep.
How many terrorist attacks occurred in the United States under Bush’s watch? One. 3000 people died. The 9/11 World Trade Center attack. Did the Bush Administration catch the bad guys in that attack? Nope.
Now, let’s move to attacks against the United States outside our geographic location.
How many terrorist attacks occurred against the United States under Clinton’s watch? 1998 Kenya and Tanzania bombings, and the 2000 Cole bombing. Did Clinton catch the bad guys in those attacks? Some, but not all.
How many terrorist attacks occurred against the United States under Bush’s watch? Too many to count. How often have American troops died in Iraq due to a terrorist attack?
Now, I said that the two worst terrorist attacks against the United States happened under Republican leaders. You got one of them right, but like a true Republican, you can’t look badly at your favorite Gipper, Mr. Reagan. Before 9/11 the worst terrorist attack against the United States happened under Reagan’s watch. In 1983, Hezbollah rammed a truck full of explosives into the barracks where American marines slept. They killed 241 American marines in that attack, the most successful terrorist attack in history, before 9/11. What was Reagan’s response? Did he catch the bad guys? Nope. He ran away from the killer rabbit.
It is well worth noting that terrorism has increased under Bush. Bush supporters would not like to highlight that point, but it is true. And the reason? Iraq.
Do humor us. Name three.
that’s an odd way to put it, for a democrat arguing that democrats and terrorists have different objectives. why not say “the most devastating” or “the deadliest” or my favorite, “the most horrible?”
but, i mean, i get your point. from somebody’s point of view, it was a huge success.
Travis,
whether it happened for us or against us, that attack was successful. It accomplished what the terrorists wanted. Reagan pulled out of Beirut. That’s called success.
doug,
Do you really want me to pick from the multitude of terrorist attacks against the United States in Iraq? How many American civilians were killed in terrorist attacks against the United States in Iraq?
This report should help you get an understanding. Note that in 2005 terrorist attacks around the world tripled the number of attacks from 2004.
[...] Dan, Nov 2006 [link] It does no good to reason with Travis and Doug. They’ve imbibed Rove’s magic Kool-Aid for too long….I mean really, there is no moral high ground with Doug and Travis. Somewhere along the line they weren’t taught that two wrongs don’t make a right….Mormons of all people should get this….they ignore [facts] Thank heaven’s the American public isn’t as far gone as Travis and Doug. By the way, keep up the silly arguments guys; give us the White House in ’08 too. Well you really aren’t very perceptive….Don’t you ever get sick of untruths? [...]
