Ahora falta ganar el mundial y la alegria es completa!
2 things i am looking forward to in connection with this news:
1. sputtering daily kos-ites claiming bush has had zarqawi for months, and has only now admitted to catching him, closer to the elections and
2. CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc producing stories like “a look back at the life of a muslim hero” and “zarqawi: a life cut short by american imperialism.” they’ll be real tear-jerkers.
I agree that many daily kos people will be saying some such nonsense.
However- I still just can’t wrap my head around how all the bloggers of either party lump the MSM into some part of the other side’s conspiracy. It is just absolutely absurd. The main stream media have never called these terrorists heros. In fact, the one guy that said the terrorists are brave for what they do, even though it is evil and horrible, lost his job over the comment. (and he wasn’t even a real news personality, just a comedian)
Come on guys- the msm is neither a supporter of terrorism, nor a warmongering institution propping up the millitary industrial complex. Is the media often lazy? Yeah. Incompetent? No doubt. But a totally extremist organization joined with either the far right or far left? give me a break.
Mike’s generally right, although CNN.com has an interview with Saleh Al Hami, al-Zarqawi’s brother-in-law, talking about how he was a martyr. I’m sure they’re just trying to be “fair and balanced.”
Speaking of lumping people together…
First off, I think that Travis is employing a bit of hyperbole. Nevertheless, his point is an important one.
Many MSM outlets do downplay the nature of the terrorists, in fact, some even avoid any mention of the “t-word”.
The fact that any MSM even gives airtime to people like Michael “The Insurgents are Minutemen” Moore speaks volumes.
I was thrilled to hear this news. Not only for its magnitude in the Iraq war, but the global war on terror as well.
I anxiously await similar news about Mr. Bin Laden. (if he is still alive)
mike, does that a. stand for “make an ass of” yourself?
look what some news people did when arafat died:
seriously, just click through to CNN. tell me if that looks like a tribute to you, glorifying his life. then tell me what the difference is between arafat and zarqawi.
notice, neither in my comment above nor in the one i made in 2004 did i use the “trigger phrase” MSM. i address the media’s stupidity on an individual, first-come, first-served basis.
Well, Time is already highlighting comments by Zarqawi’s brother.
Time Find Solace in Zarqawi’s Death
another instance of media going soft on international bad guys: the death of saddam hussein. check out michellemalkin.com, where you’ll see a screen shot of CNN’s page on saddam’s execution with a link to “family photos.” CNN has since removed the page.
